Message from the Head of the College: his grace, Abuna Timothios
The Holy Trinity Theological College has been contributing a lot to the modernization of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) through theological, management and leadership training. The College has initiated preparatory activities to upgrade the college to university level by revising its curriculum, expanding its departments and strengthening cooperation with other theological colleges.The expansion of the College into a university is another good opportunity for the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church to extend and accelerate its contribution to the social, economic and spiritual development of the country.
It is our firm understanding that the Ethiopian Orthodox Church still has the capacity to solve the various socioeconomic problems of the country. Given the tremendous need for educated manpower within the church, the College plans to deploy thousands of theologians and other professionals to achieve rapid progress and development within the Ethiopian community at home and abroad, particularly at a time when governmental and international organizations are doing their utmost to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
It is our hope that all development partners who know the historical and current contribution of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church would welcome our proposal to expand the College into a university and help us to make it successful. We therefore call upon the Ethiopian Government, the international community, civil society and non-governmental organizations to consider our plan and provide us with the required support, so that the future of Ethiopia and its people can be improved.
